The Focuss.Info initiative stimulates the use of web 2.0 tools amongst workers and researchers in the domain of development studies and cooperation. We invite you to organise local workshops and we sponsor participation. This is a unique chance for you to support the initiative and help out your local peers.
The Focuss.Info Initiative, coordinated by the International Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands, aims to promote new information and communication (ICT) skills among peers in the domain of global development research and cooperation. The objective is to improve access to information, a fundamental human right that strengthens democracy, and supports human rights. The overall objective of Focuss.Info correspondents to the work of UNESCO, which helps to develop effective 'infostructures', including developing information standards, management tools and fostering access at the community level.
By allocating resources to local workshop facilitators in Africa, Asia and South-America, Focuss aims at the promotion of ICT skills in local communities where students, teachers, researchers and individual practitioners are working in the field of global development cooperation. The main objective of each of the workshop is that 80 % of the participants should start saving their favorite e-resources on the Internet. This is also known as social bookmarking. Based on the efforts of all these social bookmarkers, Focuss will result in collection of high-qualitative e-resources in the field of global development cooperation. In order to make this collection accessible to everyone, all the e-resources are being indexed by and made full-text retrievable through the Focuss search engine.
Do you want to become a workshop facilitator yourself and engage your peers in using the latest ICT skills (with a special focus on social bookmarking), please contact Focuss by using our contact form.
