Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:24AM I have come up with a logo design for the researchers' portal. The logo is a font based design. Font based logos are something simple, a bit more formal and have a professional feel, which is ideal for this kind of portal and what its target audience is.

Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 4:33PM Preparations for the development are now being made. I decided the first thing to do is come up with a name for the portal and have the domain name registered. The name of the portal is zedresearchers.net

Zed means the country Zambia
Researchers reflects the purpose and audience of the brand
.net means its a portal being used as a network for researchers
The portal will be used as a learning platform as well as a knowledge and information sharing tool. There will be information on development research done around health in zambia( for a start) and also informationg on social bookmarking,tagging using mobile phones in zambia.
The target audience is development researchers, university professors/lecturers, university students, research instutuions e.g research units at teaching hospitals, research NGOs, the general public.
